Name: Erik Blaze
Nickname: N/A
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Blood Type: AB
Level: D
Guild: Fairy Tail
Skills: Merchant, Cook, Green Thumb
Skill Name: Merchant
Description: Thanks to his time on the road for most of his life, he is first and foremost a merchant. This means that he can value things with just a glance, talk and haggle for prices, and even sell to those who didn't come looking to buy. Appraising, acquiring, and asset control are all things that give this skill tons of use in Erik's wandering.
Skill Name: Star Cook
Description: Time has prepared a life-long passion for cooking into a feat that easily meets the culinary standards of the best. While he isn't magical like some of them, meals cooked by this guy certainly won't be burned or lacking in flavor! Heck, they'll be filling and probably lift one's spirits!
Skill Name: Green Thumb
Description: Growing plants is one aspect that has allowed Erik to keep a good stock of ingredients. So, despite being something he's not exactly experienced with as well as his other skills, this allows for more or less successful growth of the plant life of the world. Magical plants are a bit outside the range, in terms of knowing what they do and grow, but if they're in need of help then leave it to Erik!
Description
Height: 5'11
Weight: 170 lbs
Appearance: With a straight posture, pale skin, and grey eyes, Erik doesn't appear to be too strong physically with a lack of musculature on his limbs and shape. Long silver hair and a lean frame help in making up for a thin frame and helping mix into a somewhat otherworldly look. Despite the length of his hair, however, most of it is kept tightly bundled underneath a feathered beret-style cap that can almost always be found on his head. Pencil thin eyebrows and rounded ears make up the last elements of his facial look. A final nod to his alignment, of course, is the Fairy Tail guild's emblem tattoo'd in fine silver.
In terms of clothing, he often wears a loose grey shirt under a multi-color sleeveless jacket. Wrapped around his waist over the top of the vest is a supply belt, holding his essentials on the back of his waistline. Closing the end of his shirt's sleeves at the wrist are a set of leather bracers, showing just how thin his arms are compared to the baggy shirt. Made of two layers, his brown shorts can be seen from their parted seams as the outer layer while the pale yellow within acts as a legging-like manner. Finally, a small gold ring has been sewn into the back to hold his weapon of choice.
Weapons: Wooden Staff (with a frying pan attached to the top)
Items: Leather Armor (Adding this as the sort of quality his clothing is, hence the baggy layering of it.)
Bio
Personality: Raised on the road, Erik is composed of many traits. The first of which is being gregarious, promoting him to talk to and with people and enjoy himself quite well. The main topic, of course, being focused on Cooking, he generally seeks to make friends with most people he meets, regardless of their origin or who they are. One might say he is very trusting due to this, but it's quite the opposite as Erik almost always has a motivation to initially befriend others such as getting ingredients or a free kitchen to cook in. However, when faced with someone who has nothing to offer, he will often try to politely disengage from conversation, save for the moments he truly wishes to talk.
Due to his obsession with cooking, Erik could flip off the handle when he burns food, often throwing tantrums or breaking into tears whenever good ingredients go to waste. The search for the ultimate dishes and ingredients has led him to steal and fight in the past, a clear indication of his darker natures. This can be from simply being snide when others take ingredients to fully insulting or attacking someone with big enough grievances. For this reason alone, his anger often pushed into this facet, Erik will rarely exert it where he might normally be mad. Instead... he'll simply "make faces" and move on. In combat, Erik is rather confident in his skills with a staff to the point he keeps a smirk on his face. The only time this facade might drop is in the most dire of situations or when he's in enough pain, but the "Star" in this Star Cook comes out the most when he can live in the fires of battle!
Likes: Warm Weather, Nights Out, Cooking
Dislikes: Burnt Foooooood, Aggressive Behavior (toward him), Cold Weather
Jobs: Wandering Chef
Other: N/A
History: Born to a merchant family, Erik was brought up on the road for most of his life. Despite his family's wealth, the boy didn't get the luxury of a giant bed or mansion, instead he was given the schooling of the world or that of a peddler. By the time he was walking and talking, young Blaze had already been over much of Fiore... but he had never taken the time to see if he was magically capable. But that was found when they stopped in Magnolia Town, as he was watching his mother cook. When the stove top grew too hot and flame sprung from it, the young boy had waved his hand to dim the flame. From this point on, his parents tried to seek out a teacher to help him harness these powers. None stepped forward, however, so they turned to the only source that might pay off and hired a Fairy Tail mage to see the training through.
For most of his childhood life and early teen years, Erik's tutor helped him harness the potential of his magic. In time, Erik was capable of converting his own magic into fire and manipulating it... but as they tried to adapt it into uses that required focusing on more than just the magic, the boy suffered and lost control of the fire. This reason alone dissuaded his parents from the idea of magic to the point they fired his teacher... but the man insisted on teaching him for free. The result was their traveling took them into kitchens in towns and makeshift ones on the road, dinner exchanged for opportunities to practice. Afterward, Erik was even being taught to cook... and the man laughed as the lad took a liking to it.
In his early adulthood, Erik had become quite the cook over the years. Growing plants and ingredients to cook after practicing magic had been part of his routine for a long time. Meals were something that were part of his life as much as magic... and he loved it. Excelling to become one of the best cooks in the world, he wondered about combining his passion and the magic he had been training in for so long. Now a proper mage, Erik strapped a pan to his staff and began to practice once more... and suddenly began to harness the flames far more easily using the pan. With practice, the idea had blossomed into a method that finally allowed him to achieve a state of confidence with magic and his ability with it. With a satisfied master, Erik did the only thing he could and joined Fairy Tail... ensuring they'd get a good cook whenever his travels brought him back to the Guild.
Magic
Mage Type: Skillet Blaze
A mix of the two categories of Caster and Holder magics, Skillet Blaze is a unique utilization of his frying pan (stuck to the end of his staff) and cooking utensils, and his natural abilities with Fire Magic. While capable of utilizing basic attacks without the skillet, the primary usage involves heating up his pan, using it to focus and gather flames, and of course modifying the dispersal of his heat. While the uses can be trivial, this means that it allow Erik to "bat" fireballs at his foes or engulf an area in flame. Mixed with the element of combining oils and cooking experience, this magic is a cry to his own hobby of cooking! However, the other element of this magic involves maintaining the temperature of his cooking utensil, meaning that the magic will fail or melt his tools if used too frequently or with too hot a flame. In terms of how much heat his pan can "handle", it involves three stages: Hot (1), Scorching (2), Blazing (3). The final stage (which means the final stage (which means the object will be destroyed) is known as Molten... due to the fact it actually melts! This heat, sadly, doesn't dissipate without dipping it into water or over a lengthy amount of time (1 stage per 2 turns).
Without his Skillet, the best way to explain Skillet Blaze is that it becomes a very shoddy Make-style Magic. While Erik can alter and control flames, its significantly weaker in terms of manipulation to the point he can only do so while out of battle. This means that in battle, he can't turn flames away like most Fire mages might be capable of doing. However, he is still capable of forming basic fireballs, flamethrower-like gouts, and various other uses of fire. The biggest difference, however, comes in the fact that he cannot generate hotter fire without the use of of his frying pan.
Elemental Affinity: Fire
Example spells
Spells:
Spell Name: Flippin' Fire Wheel
Level: D
Range: 5-20 feet.
Description: Slightly angling his frying pan downward and to the side, Erik releases a gout of fire from a free hand. This gout collides with the frying pan, deflecting it and sending it into a barrel roll toward the direction he's facing. With a width of three feet, the attack carries the traditional force of projectile attacks with a good chance of setting aflame anything that isn't doused.
Drawback: Requires a small amount of magic power, as well as heating up his tool by 1 stage.
Spell Name: Blazin' Barrage
Level: C
Range: 20-30 feet.
Description: Taking a mouthful of flammable oils, Erik raises his pan above his head. After a moment to swish it, he spits the oils upward into a sphere-shaped "bubble". As this bubble floats above him, a quick grip of the staff sends flames rolling around it and up to the pan, igniting the oils and forming a large source of fire. With a catapult-like swing, he hits the fireball hard enough to shatter it, sending ten fireballs roughly the size of baseballs toward an opponent, each capable of giving off small, fiery explosions.
Drawback: Requires a decent amount of magic power and can only be used once due to the residual oils in his mouth putting him at risk of catching on fire. If performed a second time, he will randomly catch fire depending on oil splatter.
Spell Name: Bakin' Bacon
Level: B
Range: 5-10 feet.
Description: With a Scorching pan, Erik channels a lot of his magical power through his weapon to completely ignite the pan in an inferno. Swinging the weapon, a flash-fire will occur that will engulf the immediate area in powerful flames. If the weapon collides, obviously, it will connect with enough force to break bone and with the heat to give first degree burns.
Drawback: Along with the large amount of magic power used, this spell requires Scorching and brings it up one stage. Another drawback is the immediate proximity to the flash-fire formed with this attack, putting him in danger of burns and catching flame.
Spell Name: Infernal Isolation
Level: A
Range: Up to 30 feet in Diameter and 10 feet high.
Description: Channeling intense flames around the pan of his weapon, Erik puts the tool against the ground before giving a blur-like spin. This spin forms a ring of flame on the ground around him, which expands and rises the moment he completes the spin. These flames grow to degrees that can easily give second and third degree burns, racing across the area around him. As long as it's not above ten feet, it will be engulfed by the flame, essentially allowing him to sweep a floor in a building or even catch someone who escapes to slightly higher ground.
Drawback: Along with a large amount of magic power, this spell requires Erik to have both feet and his weapon on the ground. If performed while airborne, it will simply engulf him in the intense flames, due to the weapon's lifting force and the proper footing being used to propel the ring outwards and upwards. If an attack brings his weapon up from the ground before he can finish the attack, it will simply cause a ring of fire to form directly around him as well, equally putting him at risk. Due to the nature of this attack, it raises the pan by two stages in terms of heat.
Spell Name: Star's Supper
Level: S
Range: 50 feet upward, 50 feet in diameter. Point Blank upon attack.
Description: Channeling most of his magic power, Erik propels himself skyward with a gout of foot-fired flames. Once in the sky, he engulfs his entire body in flames, including his pan. After combusting his form, Erik fires off toward a target below or on his level with his weapon in both hands. The first part of the attack involves crashing into the person, causing an "explosion" as the fire is cast from him onto them. Once this is complete, he swings his pan at the opponent just as it reaches critical temperatures, slinging magic flame and molten steel at them.
Drawback: While it requires most of his magic reserves, this spell also drains him and physically burns away at his clothes and form while engulfing him. Along with this massive danger and draining attack, it completely melts his pan regardless of if it was at Stage 3 or not even heated. For this reason, it will leave him crippled in terms of magic capabilities (anything that requires a pan can't be used until it's replaced).
